Abstract

The ‘Learning Co-op” approach to the core Policy course is a variation of open learning. Coordinated objectives enable members to acquire and apply career- oriented policy concepts. Members direct meetings that incorporate responsibilities and positions for all members. Members come to meetings with “admission tickets” requiring application of policy concepts to current policy activities of organizations. Management reports replace “assignments. Each team makes a presentation covering the strategic management of an ongoing organization, followed by a Structured discussion period. The professor, as the Co-op’s CEO, encourages “followers to become leaders in an open, spontaneous, creative, and often fun-filled environment.
