Seeing the Forest and the Trees: Integrating Knowledge Using Large Scale Simulations in Capstone Business Strategy Classes
Abstract
This paper describes the results of using large scale simulation (LSS) to foster an integrative perspective among students in undergraduate business classes. Results indicate that the multiple methods and specific cross-functional requirements of LSS are capable of overcoming parochial, functional-level perspectives. However, because students are evaluated individually for some component of their grades, the authors caution that such reward structures pose specific challenges for successfully developing an integrative perspective using LSS.Downloads
